The NexUp Three-Year Creative Pathway

The NexUp three-year creative development journey that supports students across their entire middle school experience, intentionally building creative skill, academic habits, social awareness, and professional readiness. Through hands-on, project-based learning, students explore disciplines such as film, digital design, storytelling, fashion, and creative technology, with each year deepening focus, responsibility, and real-world application.

Year 1 – Exploration & Foundations

Students focus on curiosity and self-discovery while building core skills like collaboration, listening, time management, and accountability. They rotate through creative roles and mediums, learning teamwork and identifying which disciplines resonate most.

Year 2 – Focus & Skill Building

As confidence grows, students narrow their focus to one or two disciplines while continuing to collaborate across teams. The year emphasizes discipline, consistency, project planning, peer feedback, leadership, and introduction to industry standards.

Year 3 – Portfolio & Professional Readiness

Students produce polished, portfolio-ready work—films, campaigns, designs, zines, or pitch projects—culminating in public showcases, screenings, and digital releases. They practice presenting their work, articulating process, and receiving critique, while engaging with industry mentors and guest professionals to prepare for high school, CTE programs, and future pathways.

STUDIO & INCUBATOR PATHWAY

Students are assessed through measurable indicators including attendance, collaboration, discipline, project completion, and work quality. Those demonstrating sustained growth and readiness may be invited into the NexUp Studio & Incubator, gaining access to advanced tools, real production environments, deeper mentorship, and early entrepreneurial opportunities
